The Most Beautiful Bathrooms

Jeanne Leonard Interiors

Fabulous bay vistas were the inspiration for the interiors of this Quogue residence.
The design goal was to create an eclectic interior that would complement the contemporary architecture by Sears & Sears Inc. Interior designers Jeanne and Jennifer Going of Jeanne Leonard Interiors kept this in mind while choosing the tile, stone, fixtures and accessories for the seven bathrooms.
"The attention to detail is crucial," says Jeanne. "We have to be available during every installation to be sure that the tile layout is correct, the sconces are hung at the right height and the towel bars and paper holders are exactly where they should be."
Countless details must be considered while designing a bathroom. Jeanne and Jen's first consideration is always the source of natural light. A bright bathroom with spectacular views is the perfect place to use a brilliant white tile with a terra cotta floor, while an interior bathroom, as in the Audio Room, is beautiful with a birdseye maple vanity and green marble.

This guest bath has a limestone counter top combined with a terra cotta ceramic tile floor and terra cotta decorative tiles from Country Floors. Several windows make this bathroom bright and sunny with spectacular bay views. A great place for the use of terra cotta.

Off of the pool and connected to the Family Room, this bath has pillowed ceramic tile and a mosaic decorative tile from Waterworks in NYC. The pillowed tile and natural tones used in the decorative tile create a warm atmosphere.

A gold leaf mirror, sconces, and hardware create a formal atmosphere in the Powder Room of this Quogue home while a glass pedestal sink and poured cement tile give it an eclectic style. Gold Kallista fixtures were used throughout the house considering the close proximity to the water and likelihood of brass to pit. Inset: Detail of poured cement tile from Country Floors.

The Verde Marataka granite, acorn ceramic tile, birdseye maple vanity and polished nickel and gold hardware give this bath a subtle masculine character. Tile from Waterworks, NYC.

The next thing to consider is the color scheme and tile layout. The pool bath for example has one small window; an exterior door leading out to the pool area and as interior door leading into the family room. The tile, in this pass through bath with limited natural light, is pillowed ceramic tile with a clear glaze topped by a mosaic border tile, in neutral colors. The neutral colors and curve of the pillowed tile give the pool bath the feeling of a spa. Seamless shower doors and gold fixtures are an important design element in this bathroom. The seamless doors allow for an unobstructed view of the pillowed tile shower walls and stunning gold fixtures, all adding to the spa look. There is even a custom made spa bench along one wall.
Jeanne and Jen agree that, with the exception of the master bathroom, the powder room is the most important bathroom.
"It is the one bathroom that everyone sees and the style of a powder room should reflect the rest of the house." The powder room in this Quogue home does just that. A traditional golf leaf mirror and sconces hang above a clear glass pedestal sink. The wall tile is a poured cement tile with decorative border tile' in a wonderful high relief design, and the floor is a verde marataka slab that the powder room was literally built around. This mix of modern and traditional influences complimenting one another succeeds in reflecting the overall interior design of the house.
